What to expect:

🏒 Hockey player

🏒 Single mom

🏒 Secret baby

🏒 He falls first, and hard

I’ve always been a wild card – the first to start a fight on the ice, and the life of the party off it – but appearances can be deceiving.
Being traded to the Boston Rebels could not have come at a better time. With serious family obligations to fulfill and a contract renewal with a new hockey team on the line, I have no time for anything else. I return to Boston knowing I need to buckle down and focus on what really matters.
But the first night I’m back in town, I come face to face with Audrey, my college calculus tutor. We had a brief fling right before I was drafted into the NHL. Now, her five year old son is standing by her side, and I don’t need a tutor to do that kind of math.
Audrey insists she doesn’t want me involved in Graham’s life unless I can commit to being a dad. With everything else going on, this is the worst possible timing.
But every minute I spend with Graham and Audrey feels exactly right, and I’m left questioning everything I thought I wanted.
Because now my goals are shifting, and getting what I really want might come at the expense of the game I’ve given my entire life to.

Disclaimer: I received this book at no cost from the publisher/author. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. I am leaving a voluntary review and all opinions are my own.

The premise for this book is like my kryptonite. I can't resist a story with a secret baby trope because I always find it intriguing. Throw in the other tropes I love like the single parent trope and the hockey romance and I feel like I'm sitting pretty.

I was drawn into this story so quickly. I enjoyed the author's relatable writing style and loved the way that the author was able to hold my attention. The plot of the story was well-crafted and the tropes were executed nicely.

These characters were vibrant and full of life. They really felt so tangible and three-dimensional. The character development was very exceptional. Audrey's character was very cautious because of the harshness of the world. Drew was trying to straighten things out in his life but deep down he was such a swoony cinnamon roll. The characters were easy to connect with, and the secondary characters greatly impacted the story. I loved the strong friendships in the story.

This was an adorable second-chance romance. Their shared history together brought a lot of emotions to the surface. Add in a five-year-old and the emotions were flying at high speed. I love how Drew proves to Audrey that he can be there for her and Graham and that she can trust him. Drew falls so hard for Audrey and he is all-in and is on a mission to prove it.

Overall, this was such a delightful second-chance hockey romance. These characters made such an impression on me and I am so eager for the next book in this series!

Julia grew up on the warm and sunny West Coast, but her first decision as an adult was to trade her flip-flops for snow boots and move to Boston.

She’s been enjoying everything that New England has to offer for over two decades, and now that she’s acclimated to the snowy winters and finally found all the places to get good sushi and tacos, she has zero regrets.

You can usually find her in front of her computer, but when she stops writing she’s most likely to be found outdoors, preferably with a pair of skis or snowshoes strapped to her feet in winter, or on a paddleboard in the summer.
