This story was a mixed bag for me. There are a lot of things about it that I very much enjoyed and there are also things that didn't pan out for me.

What this book does well relates to the storytelling. I felt the author had a smooth writing style that was easy to mesh with. The world-building was vivid. The plot was a little too all over the place for my liking though and fell a bit flat.

Noah's character was delightful. He was sweet and caring. Lily's character rubbed me the wrong way. I couldn't connect with her at all and her personality was annoying a good part of the time. There was some depth missing from the character development. I did enjoy the supporting characters and am intrigued to know more about them.

Overall, I generally enjoyed the story as a whole but felt it could have been much better. I think this stems from the fact that I just didn't connect with the FMC at all and found her character annoying. My review may sound critical but I think this is probably a case of "it's not you, it's me" so take these words with a grain of salt. I do not doubt that this story will be a better fit for other readers. I am eager to continue the series and meet more characters.
