I was so taken with this story. My favorite types of books are ones that are full of emotion. This book certainly speaks to your heart.

The characters in this book are absolutely flawed and beautiful and real. So very real. I love books that show the darker side of characters and we get that in this book. We see the ugly parts that most people try to hide from everyone else. These characters are raw and they will get under your skin so that you will remember them long after you have finished the book.

This story does contain cheating. This isn't really a spoiler since the author included that fact in the blurb. A lot of people won't touch a book that contains cheating but I don't really mind it as long as it adds to the story. If it has no purpose in the story then I don't care for it. This story does a nice job of adding that into the story. I don't want to spoil anything, but I thought that it was well written.

Even though circumstances and choices that are made throw both Kristi and Jake into a tailspin, it is evident that they are meant to be together. They have to work past a lot in this story. Their path certainly is not an easy one to tread.

Overall, this is a stellar story about second chances, growing up, and redemption. I fell into this story headfirst and I can't stop thinking about it now. This book will take you on such an intense ride of emotions. If you are a fan of second chance romances then you're sure to adore this one! I can't wait to read more from this author!

Author Bio

Charmaine Pauls was born in Bloemfontein, South Africa. She obtained a degree in Communication at the University of Potchestroom, and followed a diverse career path in journalism, public relations, advertising, communications, photography, graphic design, and brand marketing. Her writing has always been an integral part of her professions.

After relocating to Chile with her French husband, she fulfilled her passion to write creatively full-time. Charmaine has published over twenty novels since 2011, as well as several short stories and articles. Two of her shorts have been selected by the International Literary Society for an anthology from across the African continent.

When she is not writing, she likes to travel, read, and rescue cats. Charmaine currently lives in France with her husband and children. Their household is a linguistic mélange of Afrikaans, English, French and Spanish.
