Disclaimer: I received an ARC of this book at no cost from the publisher/author. All opinions expressed in my review are my own.
This book was absolutely delightful! I love sports romances and this one had the extra perk of including the aspect of fame and living in Los Angeles. All the possibilities that aspect presented just made this book that much more addicting.
I loved the author's writing style. It is effortless, smooth, and easy to follow. It isn't hard to imagine yourself living the story alongside the characters. One of my favorite things about this book was the concise writing style. It was well suited for this type of story.
I immediately felt drawn to these characters. They are presented to the reader brilliantly. It is easy to get a taste of the main characters' hopes and fears early on so the reader feels especially close to them as the story progresses. I loved how multi-layered the characters were because it made them seem that much more real. Like they could jump off the page and be real people. Riley and Levi both had things that they didn't show everyone. They also both had things that the struggled with inside that they had to overcome. The side characters were great as well. I loved the dynamic that they all had together. They felt like a family and I loved that. I haven't read the previous books in this series that center on the other guys from Holt Body Fitness, but I definitely will be reading them.
The romance in this book was very strong. I loved Riley and Levi together. Their chemistry really was just as effortless as the author's writing style. They belonged together and they completed each other and it was evident in the writing. The attraction between them was intense, but it felt forced at the very beginning of the book. Yeah, they are both hot and they both get the feels because of it. While it wasn't instalove, it was definitely instalust and it wasn't working for me at the beginning. It isn't so bad once the actual romance gets started because the romance is divine. The way that Riley and Levi fell in love was slow and beautiful and all-encompassing. They slipped into each others' hearts and filled them up with every bit of themselves.
I enjoyed the plot of the story. There were conflict and stakes that were entertaining and compelling. I loved the fame factor in the story. I thought that the premise for the story was perfect and it played out perfectly. I felt that the resolution of one of the main conflicts at the end of the story was resolved a little too quickly and smoothly, but it still worked.
This book is definitely one that I recommend! It has characters that grab your attention, a sizzling romance, and a plot that keeps you interested and wanting more. Reading this has introduced me to a new favorite author. I will be devouring this author's backlist as fast as I can at this point. I am so glad that I picked this one up!
