Dear Jerk Across the Street, sorry for accidentally walking in on you and catching an eyeful of your—equipment. And hard pass on the open invitation to join you in the shower “anytime”, A-hole.

That’s the note I should’ve written. Instead I sent a pleasant and apologetic version.

Had I known Phoenix “Nix” Russo would’ve been the neighbor from hell, I’d have told him right where he could shove my words.

Nix is the big man on campus with everyone lined up at his games to make sure he knows it. Sure, he’s got piercing green eyes, abs that don’t quit and a smile that could set fire to a set of panties from a hundred yards away, but he’s also the biggest pain in my ass.

Dear Pink-Haired Menace, learn how to take a joke and stop being such a kill-joy...

Elle Masterson called the cops on one of my parties—again. My sweet talking usually gets me out of trouble, but this time it got me into a nice pair of silver handcuffs. Now I’m on a reputation rehab tour with a stop at a spring break community service project.

Guess who’s my new boss?

Now we’re shoulder to shoulder, sweaty, tired and…she’s not anything like I expected. There might just be a heart under that hardass exterior. She’s invading my dreams and I can’t shake the feeling she’s the key to unlocking a piece of me that I’ve hidden away.

It’s only a matter of time until she finds out why I’m really here.

Maybe I can break through her walls and into her heart before that happens...one screw at a time.

Disclaimer: I received an Advance Reader Copy at no cost from the publisher/author. All opinions in my review are my own.

This story literally captivated me from the very first page. I remember reading The Perfect First, the first book in this series, and I felt the same way. I was immediately drawn into the story. The author draws us in with humor and just the right amount of angst to really set the bar for the rest of the story.

Hughes knows how to write characters that have incredible chemistry. And I am not just talking about the main characters and love interests. All of the characters have great connections and get along marvelously. They add so much depth to the story. This cast of secondary characters is among my favorites that I have read. You can't help but want to know more about each of them and want to experience their stories as well.

As far as Elle and Nix are concerned, their chemistry was insane. Their sexual tension was off the charts and so palpable. I love a good and realistic enemies-to-lovers romance story and this one fit the bill and then some. I think that what added more depth to the romance was the fact that Elle and Nix are both such well-developed characters all on their own. There is so much under the surface of each of them and they both bring something different to the plate. When they finally come together it is like a symphony has commenced.

I really loved the plot and how things worked out at the end of the story. For the most part, the plot was totally convincing and made perfect sense. The author's writing style is just incredible. Her writing is so smooth and detailed. I know that when I pick up a book by this author that the quality will be perfect.

Overall, this is such an endearing story about not judging someone before you get to know them and that there is a lot more to people than what you can see from the outside. I loved every moment of this story. I am so invested in this series and I cannot wait for Jules and Berk's story in the next installment. I am on pins and needles now waiting for their story. This is a book, and a book series, that I wholeheartedly recommend. If college romance is your jam then I urge you to pick this series up today.

Excerpt

“I’ve missed this,” he whispered against my lips.
“Me too.”
His fingers tightened around the hair at the base of my neck. Tilting my head to the side, he ran his lips over my skin, sending shivers down my spine.
One second we were standing in the middle of the pitch-black room and the next the whole world tilted. I landed against Nix’s solid chest.
“Are you okay?” I tried to push myself up.
He tightened his hold around me. “The stress balls, sweatpants, and t-shirts cushioned my fall.”
“Thank you for today.” I peppered his jaw with kisses.
“Thank you for letting me do this for you.” The outline of his erection pressed against the front of my mound. Just one inch higher…
He wrapped his hands around my waist and lifted me, perfecting the angle.
I shuddered and ground my hips against him. Someone walked by the door, but we didn’t stop—couldn’t stop.
His hands cupped my ass, dragging me harder against him. The texture of his jeans added extra sensation against my clit. I was on fire for him through two layers of clothes.
My short gasps and his low groans were the only sounds in the room other than the fabric friction.
“We should get back out there.” I raked my teeth along the side of his neck.
“You’re probably right.” His hips shot up and I wanted to scream in frustration that he wasn’t inside me, but I didn’t want to break from the thrumming pleasure rushing all over my body.
“In a second.”
“In a minute.” His tongue danced with mine in time to the rhythm of our hips. Laughter rang out in the hallway behind the door, but I couldn’t stop. If someone came in, there wasn’t anything that would stop me from dry-humping Nix into next week.
