Teaser of The Chosen Knights (Book 2by Mary Ting:

“It’s beautiful.” I breathed. How this pendant, which was the size of his thumb, could give off so much light was unfathomable.
“Isn’t it?” Eli agreed, staring intensely at me while taking a step toward me.
My heart pounded mercilessly from his words. A hint of playfulness was behind his tone, especially since he wasn’t staring at his pendant but directly at me.
“Umm.” My face flushed. I changed the subject. “We need to get back to our friends. They’re worried about us, and they might need our help.”
He took another step, followed by my backward step. We continued that way for several steps more until I bumped into a tree.
“They’ll be fine,” he said. “Time stands still when we astral travel. It sounds strange, but we could be here for days, and only seconds will have passed in the present.” Eli stood before me with hunger in his eyes. The nearness of his six-foot-plus strong and masculine body caused fluttering feelings to erupt in my stomach.
“What are you, Eli?” I tried to break whatever was happening between us because God help me, I was falling.
Eli cupped my face tenderly with the palms of his hands. With his eyes deeply set on me, I imagined he could see right through my soul. “I am...everything,” he answered softly but sternly. Then he paused to brush his lips ever so gently on mine. “And you...are my girl with wings.” I was frozen in place, as stiff as the tree trunk supporting my back. The only thing that moved was my chest and my heart racing at the same speed as his. Just before he crushed his lips onto mine, he said in somber tone, “You will be the destruction of me.”

This book is so flawless! I loved every moment of it, and I could NOT put this book down! The story really grips you and imprints on you right from the first page. I love stories that start out with a lot of action and jump right into the story, and The Chosen Knights really fits the bill.

The first thing that I noticed about The Chosen Knights is how smooth Mary Ting's writing is. The words flow together immaculately. I loved how the world building was created in a way that reading about it did not feel tedious. The world building and the character development are both woven so beautifully together.

The character development was really spectacular. Especially for the main character, Lucia. The book is told in first person from Lucia's point of view. I loved experiencing all of her conflicting emotions alongside her. I also admired how she stayed true to herself, even though she was unsure whether or not to let her emotions take over.

The plot was quite compelling. I adore stories with angels and demons. What makes The Chosen Knights stand out is the unique angle in which Mary Ting presents by adding the Knights Templar into the story. I've never seen this done before in an urban fantasy, and I adore the originality that it brings to this tale. The story has the perfect amount of action, romance, and mystery.

I loved the romance in this book! It was slow and had the perfect amount and sweetness and temptation. I adored every moment.

It is worth mentioning that The Angel Knights series is a spin-off of Mary Ting's Crossroads series. If you have not read the Crossroads series, fret not! The Angel Knights series can be read as a stand-alone series as well. I have not yet read the Crossroads series, and I was able to follow along without any problems. (Although, I am definitely going to be reading Mary Ting's Crossroads series very soon!)

I am highly anticipating the release of the next book in this series! (And by that I mean that I need the next book more than oxygen.) I have hands down found a new favorite series and a new favorite author! You will not be disappointed that you read this!

This was a fantastic start to what, I can only anticipate, is going to be an incredible series! It certainly set the stage, and I immediately wanted to delve into The Chosen Knights after finishing this prequel novella. The Angel Knights is very short, and to the point. There is plenty of action packed into its short pages, and a lot of anticipation from the characters. The writing had a great flow.

The series centers around Venators, or demon hunters. If you are a fan of angels and demons, then you will love this series!

I think that it is important to point out that this series is a spin-off of Mary Ting's Crossroads series. It is equally important to point out that this new series can also be read as a stand-alone series. You do not have to have read the Crossroads series to understand or like The Angel Knights. I have not read Mary Ting's Crossroads series yet, and I loved this! I never felt lost, or as though I was missing key information. I will definitely be starting Mary Ting's Crossroads series in the near future!
