MYTHOTHON ROUND 4
I stumbled upon this amazing little read-a-thon the other day that is hosted by Foxes Fairytale. I thought, what a better way to get out of my dreadful reading slump than to challenge myself next month. So that's just what I'm going to do! This read-a-thon takes place during the month of April. The prompts for this round of Mythothon are inspired by Arthurian legend. (And that just makes the nerd inside me dance with glee!) There are three teams to choose from and your first reading prompt depends upon which team you are going to jive with. They are based on magicians from Arthurian legend. I went with Team Morgan le Fay. The other options were Merlin or Nimue. The other prompts are inspired by the twelve knights of the round table and Camelot. There is also a group book for this read-a-thon, though it is not mandatory to read it. I'll list the prompts below along with what books I have chosen as my TBR for the read-a-thon.
Mythothon TBR
◽ Morgan le Fay — Read a story about a villainous, misunderstood or morally grey character.
The Rose Society (The Young Elites #2) by Marie Lu
I'll be listening to this one on audiobook along with the first book in the series.
◽ King Arthur — Read a book featuring royalty.
House of Bastiion (The Haidren Legacy #1) by K.L. Kolarich
I just discovered this book and this author recently and I am stoked to jump into this book! This is the author's debut and I have heard great things about it. I've heard that it is very rich in world-building and I am such a sucker for fantasy books that are well-developed.
◽ Sir Lancelot (Arthur’s greatest companion) — Read a book from a favorite author.
From Blood and Ash (Blood and Ash #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout
I've put this one off for too long. Enough said.
◽ Sir Gawain (Known as the Green Knight) — Read a book with the color green on the cover or in the title.
Late Love (Saint Street #3) by Scarlett Hopper
I love this series and I am excited to finish it.
◽ Sir Percival (the original hero in the quest for the Grail) — Read a book with a shiny cover.
Lost Girl (Wolf Girl #2) by Leia Stone
At the end of 2020/start of 2021, I went through a hardcore wolf shifter phase that I think that I am still technically in. Kind of, maybe? (Well, if not for my slump I probably would be.) This is one of the series that I went gaga for and I have been foaming at the mouth for the sequel.
◽ Sir Bors (Arthur’s successor) — Read a sequel.
Reborn (Shadow Beast Shifters #3) by Jaymin Eve
Another wolf shifter series that I absolutely fell in love with. I have been dying for this last book to release in this series. It comes out on March 31st, and I am so here for it!
◽ Sir Lamorak (one of the best knights but overlooked in the chivalric romance genre) — Read a book you think is under-hyped.
Make Me Lose (Bayshore #1) by Ember Leigh
This will be a reread so I can catch up on the series now that it is complete. I adore this author so much! Her writing is incredible.
◽ Sir Kay (Arthur’s foster brother) — Read a book with a significant sibling relationship.
Midnight King (Shifter Island #3) by Leia Stone, Raye Wagner
Yet another wolf shifter series that I became obsessed with. This is the most recent release and it is from the POV of the male love interest in the story so I'm excited to get his perspective.
◽ Sir Gareth (the youngest knight) — Read a recent addition to your TBR.
Blood Casino (Vampires & Vices #1) by Nina Walker\
This is another book that I recently added to my TBR. I have had this author's other books on my TBR for ages but the blurb for this one really caught my eye. I knew I had to read it.
◽ Sir Bedivere (returns Excalibur to Nimue) — Read a book with something pointy on the cover.
This Broken Wolf (Soul Bitten Shifter #2) by Everly Frost
Yes, another wolf shifter sequel that I have been dying to read. Shocker, I know.
◽ Sir Galahad (“the most perfect of all knights”) — Read a book with a title that starts with a “G”.
Gods & Monsters (Gods & Monsters #1) by Janie Marie
This book actually has King Arthur and his knights in it! Though it is certainly nothing like the legend we all know. This is a dystopian fantasy reverse harem story according to the blurb and reviews I've read. It sounds very unique so I can't wait!
◽ Sir Tristan (falls in love with Isolde) — Read a book with a romance that should be legendary.
A Court of Mist and Fury (A Court of Thorns and Roses #2) by Sarah J. Maas
Another reread. I decided to reread the entire series before I pick up A Court of Silver Flames.
◽ Sir Gaheris (“the least well-spoken of all his peers”) — Listen to an audiobook or read part of a story aloud.
The Young Elites (The Young Elites #1) by Marie Lu
Yet another reread but this time I will be listening on audiobook. I wanted to finish this series but I need to go back and read this one again before I start The Rose Society for my morally gray character prompt.
◽ Camelot — Read a book set in a place you’ve never visited.
Ruthless Empire (Royal Elite #6) by Rina Kent
I have needed to finish up this series forever. I love every single one of Rina Kent's books. She always dazzles me with her dark romance stories.
◽ Group Book - Legendborn by Tracy Deonn
So there you have it! My TBR for April's Mythothon read-a-thon. We'll see if I can get through them all or not. At the very least I am hoping to pull myself out of my reading slump. There are so many awesome books that I am eager to read but my mental health has been kicking my bum lately and I just haven't felt up to picking up a book. I am hoping that will change very soon. I made sure to pick books that I am really eager to read for the majority of the prompts.
If you would like to participate in the read-a-thon then head on over to Foxes Fairytale and sign up! Leave the link to your sign-up post in the comments so I can see your TBR too!
