Frat House Confessions: Brody
by Bethany Lopez
Contemporary Romance

She’s looking for someone with a rich character, not bank account…

Emma’s life has not been easy. Rather than using her disadvantages as a crutch, they have fueled her passion for helping others. She believes in working hard, loves her brother unconditionally, and has no time in her busy life for a certain cocky playboy who has obviously never been denied a thing in his life.

He’s searching for something, but isn’t sure what…

Brody may come across as a fast-talking rich boy with a sweet car. He’s secured a position in the hottest frat on campus and has the attitude of a guy who’s never known what it’s like to go without. So, yeah, it’s a pretty accurate description. But there’s more to the youngest Temple brother than meets the eye.
When Brody keeps showing up in Emma’s world, her initial assumption is that he’s still playing games. As his confessions come to light, Emma starts to see beneath the surface. Will it be enough to change her perception of him? And will she be able to teach Brody that love is worth more than all his money can buy?

This is such an entertaining series and I was finally glad to hear the last Temple brother's story.

What I love about this series is how the characters become such a part of you while you are reading the books. I really felt connected to all the characters throughout the series. Brody and Emma were so likable and very relatable as well. I thought that there was a little missed opportunity with Brody's character development and growth in the story. Brody didn't have the best home life and it has affected him a lot in life, though it didn't seem to have much impact on him in the story. He mentions it a few times but doesn't ever seem to grapple with any of those issues through the course of the story. I felt that Emma's character was much more developed though her character didn't really seem to grow much in the story. I really loved all of the side characters from other books in the series as well as Lopez's Three Sisters Catering series that features the Temple brother's older sisters. I loved seeing all the strong relationships in the story. The relationship between Brody and his brothers, the relationship that the Temple brothers had with their older sisters and their families, as well as the relationships that the Temple brothers had with their girlfriends.

I really liked that the romantic relationship in this book was based on admiration for the other person. It wasn't superficial but I felt that the romance in the story was very rushed. Apart from that, I really loved Brody's dedication to Emma. He was so sweet to her and very romantic.

Where the romance was rushed, I also felt that the story was a little rushed as well. It just felt like things were moving way too fast. The pacing was just not working for me. I liked the overall plot of the story but I felt like there wasn't enough conflict in the story. There wasn't any angst where the romance was concerned and there wasn't really any serious conflicts period. I kept waiting for something jarring to happen but it never really came.

Overall, this is a light-hearted and sweet story that was the perfect quick read. It is definitely a book that will put a smile on your face and make you feel good inside. If you are looking for something with a lot of substance then you may not enjoy this one but if you like something on the lighter side then you'd most likely love it. All of the books in this series have been so entertaining and I can't wait for the next book!
