Release Blitz & Review: Doughn't Let Me Go (Slice #3) by Teagan Hunter

Doughn't Let Me Go
Slice Book 3
Release Date: February 6, 2020

It was just supposed to be one night.
No kissing. No feelings. A wham-bam-thank-you-ma’am tangle in the sheets and we go our own ways.
Only it’s a small town, and I was bound to run into the irresistible Porter Jones again.
I just didn’t expect it to be at my job interview…which he’s conducting.
Now the live-in nanny to his adorable seven-year-old daughter, I’m doing my best to avoid falling for his charms.
Except it’s much harder than either of us anticipated.
What’s a few romps between friends?
No kissing. No feelings. Just fun.
Sounds simple, right?
Right…

This was a fun little slice (yes, I went there) of a story that put a smile on my face. This was a witty, entertaining, and light-hearted story that really hit the spot.

I really liked the characters in this story but I thought that they could have a little more depth. I liked where the author took their backstories and how their pasts affected them in the present, but I felt that there could have been a little more there. We kind of get the tip of the iceberg, so to speak, where their personal histories are concerned. That aside, both main characters were easy to relate to and so likable. I just didn't feel as connected to the characters as I would have liked because I was wanting a little bit more. I very much enjoyed all of the side characters, including Porter's little girl, Kyrie. Reading this book has made me eager to read the other books in this series to get closer to the secondary characters.

The romance in the story was almost like a slow-burn but not at the same time. Porter and Dory have definite chemistry when they meet at the pizza diner. They may have decided to have a one-night-stand that night but their conversation sparked their interest in each other. Their attraction to each other definitely continues from there. They carry on a physical relationship and try to keep their feelings out of it but they eventually find out that they are in too deep.

I liked the overall plot of the story. I thought that the idea behind their meeting was humorous and played out rather well. I felt that there could have been a bit more conflict in the story though. The main conflict is more of an internal one so the story is more of a bumpy ride down a country road than a rollercoaster ride. I did enjoy the author's writing style. The narration was very smooth and was easy to read.

Overall, this was a fun read that is perfect for a lazy day. It is packed with humor, heartfelt moments, and a push and pull romance that you can't help but root for. I am excited to see what is next from this author.

I'm a Missouri-raised gal, but currently live in North Carolina with my US Marine husband and 9-year-old dog. I spend my days begging him for a cat, and I survive off coffee, pizza, and sarcasm. When I'm not writing, you can find me binge-watching various TV shows, especially Supernatural and One Tree Hill. I like cold weather, buy more paperbacks than I'll ever read, and I never say no to brownies.

Writing is my passion, and this is just the beginning of my journey.
