This was such a compelling and emotional read that it left me quite a mess. This was a powerful story that had a dose of mystery and suspense. This story really swept me away.

I absolutely love this writing duo. Their writing style flows so seamlessly. It is inviting and all-consuming. The plot was brilliant. I loved every moment, every twist and turn in the story. I was kept on the edge of my seat. I have some mixed feelings about the epilogue. I felt that it was unnecessary and did nothing for the story. At the same time, it was kind of clever and definitely shocking. In the end, it really put a sour taste in my mouth when all I was wanting was something to fill my heart with joy. It didn't change my rating but it definitely gave me mixed feelings.

These characters were marvelous. I loved the chemistry between Breeze, Chase, and Kai. These three didn't start off on the best of terms. In fact, Chase and Kai hated each other throughout most of the book. The build-up that the authors create in their relationship is awesome. I loved the individual relationships that Breeze had with each of them and then their combined relationship as a group. Each of the characters were interesting, likable, and relatable. The character growth for these characters is incredible.

The romance kind of started off in love triangle territory. I thought that the authors did a really great job of fleshing it out. Both boys express interest in Breeze after her best friend's death. First, we have Chase, her best friend's brother. Breeze has crushed on him since she was ten years old. Chase expresses interest in Breeze after Violet's death but kind of in a toxic way. He is lashing out and self-destructing because of his grief. It really felt like it was just a bit of wrong timing. It seemed as though he really did care about Breeze but never expressed it before. Chase's actions while he is dealing with his grief kind of push Breeze away. Second, we have Kai. Violet's boyfriend. Violet and Kai had a very toxic relationship with a lot of back and forth. Kai reveals that he had feelings for Breeze for a while and had been keeping them under wraps. He said that he had tried to break up with Violet before her death. After spending time with Kai, Breeze gets to know him and they really bond. She sees that he isn't the horrible person that rumors and other people may claim. Breeze and these two boys deal with their grief over Violet's death together. I don't want to give anything away but I will say that Breeze definitely has chemistry with both boys. In the end, one becomes the best friend and the other gets her heart.

Overall, this is a gripping story about grief that will break your heart and put it back together again. This story is both heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. This book definitely packs on the feels. The emotions run rampant in this story. I loved the way that the authors showed that not all people deal with grief in the same ways. This was an unforgettable story that rocked my socks.

I have always loved to read. In kindergarten, I was the weird kid sitting in the reading nook by myself instead of trying to get more snacks. I’m excited to be putting my own voice on the page and watching a story I helped create come to life. I still love to read, but I also really like snacks.
I grew up in Chicago but recently moved back to the Dallas area where I live with my husband and son.
I have my Bachelor of Science in Biology. I spent a year researching chimpanzees and gorillas while I was in Chicago and then I spent another two months on a chimpanzee sanctuary trying to convince headstrong chimps to cooperate. Pro tip - grapes are a pretty hot bargaining tool. They work wonders with my toddler too.
